In the New Testament, Jesus Christ places a significant emphasis on the value and importance of children within the Kingdom of God. His message, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14, KJV), highlights several key principles:

Children as Examples of Faith and Purity

Jesus frequently used children as examples of the kind of faith and purity that believers should strive for. He said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3, NIV). Here, Jesus emphasizes the need for humility, innocence, and a trusting nature.

The Role of Children in God’s Plan

Jesus’ words and actions show that children have a special place in God’s plan. He healed children, raised them from the dead (Luke 8:54-55), and blessed them. His interactions with children were a testament to their value and the necessity of nurturing them in faith. David was a young shepherd boy, living in Bethlehem. His early life is a testament to God’s ability to raise up the seemingly insignificant for extraordinary purposes.

He learned to play the harp, a skill that would soothe King Saul during his times of distress. More importantly, David developed bravery and trust in God, protecting his flock from lions and bears. He later referenced these experiences when he faced Goliath, saying, "The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:37, NIV).
