End of The World.
Some theologians emphasize that we have been in the “last days” since Christ’s ascension, as declared by the Holy Spirit through inspired writers in the Old and New Testaments.
The setting of the Olivet Discourse is one of the most astounding events of the New Testament. Jesus Christ sets the stage with a tone that was not considered prophetic because, in the days of the disciples, prophecy was not a common theme of religion as we currently relate to its meaning.
Jesus delivered this discourse to His disciples while sitting on the Mount of Olives, overlooking Herod’s Temple in Jerusalem.
An anonymous disciple marvels at the grandeur of the temple, but Jesus responds by predicting its complete destruction. He declares that not one stone will remain upon another, foreshadowing a cataclysmic event.
The Olivet Discourse addresses several themes related to the end times:
- Signs of Christ’s Return: The disciples inquire about the timing of Jesus’s coming and the end of the age. Jesus warns them about false messiahs, wars, earthquakes, famines, and pestilences.
- Birth Pains: He describes these signs as “the beginnings of birth pains,” indicating the approaching Kingdom of God. These include false prophets, apostasy, persecution, and the global spread of the Gospel.
- Abomination of Desolation: Jesus warns about an abomination standing where it shouldn’t—a sign for the people of Judea to flee urgently.
- The discourse combines apocalyptic language with practical instructions for believers.
Yes, we are living in the world of the end which means The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will happened during your lifetime. Repent!
Bishop St. Hylton Coombs
The Olivet Discourse serves as a blueprint for understanding the signs of Christ’s return, the end times, and the restoration of Israel. Its relevance extends beyond its historical context, inviting us to remain watchful and faithful as we await the ultimate triumph of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus spoke of “wars and rumors of wars” as signs of the nearing end in Matthew 24:6-7. Throughout history, violent and tumultuous times have been seen as connected to biblical prophecies, signaling a period of tribulation and unrest before Christ’s return.
The Book of Revelation outlines various signs believed to indicate the approaching end times. These include natural disasters, wars, famines, and pandemics. Interpretations of these signs vary widely.
People are laboring with anxiety about the end of the world, but “time” is given to all the people of the world to repent and turn their hearts from wickedness to the love of God. Regrettably if one refuses to repent of their sins, they will be sorry they have not heeded to the gospel of salvation brought to the world through Jesus Christ.
